Two big announcements for our Award Winning B Austin Communities Project.
First, B Austin Communities is being recognized in the 2019 Hive 50. See more in the article in Builder Magazine here with excerpts below:
“Our 2019 Hive 50 list—spanning design, building technology, capital commitment, customer intelligence, and business and consumer strategy—highlights applied brilliance that reflects how the future now defines this community more so than the effect of all the past millennia put together. The honorees will be celebrated at the fourth-annual Hive conference, Dec. 4-5, in Austin, Texas.”
Second, excited to see our B Austin Communities project grace the pages of Green Builder Magazine this month. Link here to the complete issue.
We are honored that our B-Austin multi-use project has been released as a case study for the Austin Energy Green Building program! The AEGB has been a highly successful sustainable building program for Central Texas since 1990, cultivating innovation in building and transportation for the enrichment of the community’s environmental, economic, and human well-being. B-Austin achieved a 4-Star rating featuring on-site solar, grey water harvesting, urban farming, integrated wellness, and much more. See our website for further information!
We are MASTERS OF DESIGN for the second year in a row!
Excited to have two of our projects receive some national attention. Our Cherry Lane Residence was awarded GOLD in the mid-range whole house remodel category. Our Lake Austin Pool Cabana received a BRONZE award in the outdoor living category.
This is the cover of Qualified Remodeler Magazine, September 2019, featuring Cherry Lane! See pg. 32 for the project profile. A big thanks to our build partners for their work on these two outstanding projects.
Excited to share finished pictures from our Explorer Residence with Peak Design Build LLC.
Our Explorer Residence in Lakeway, TX tames a difficult hillside site with a modern composition of spaces, forms, and materials. A front drive court enables separation from the roadway up the hill so the home feels very much in its own world. The main entry becomes a nexus for circulation up or down to private spaces, or flowing straight into the open communal spaces. A broad rear deck embraced by tree canopy overlooks the pool as the hillside continues to descend. Entry to our Explorer Residence transverses the main axis so that while the main spaces run broadly to the view, circulation is more dynamic. Vantage points to the view are restrained to create moments peeking through the tree canopy, while the panorama is reserved for the moment one enters the expansive open deck adjacent to the main spaces. The asymmetric arrangement of the kitchen at one end of the main axis softens the formality to allow for a more inviting sub-space within the larger open plan. By locating various elements of interest such as corner windows in the main spaces diagonally across from the entry foyer, the home draws one in while simultaneously extending its reach beyond.

Excited to share views of our Cherry Lane Residence in Tarry Town with Glauser Building Company.
Our Cherry Lane Residence is a transformative whole-house renovation & addition to an existing single-story home in the Tarrytown Neighborhood of Central Austin. A family of 5 sought a modern, efficient design to fit their lifestyle while providing space to grow. The roof of the existing home was removed, the exterior envelope re-imagined and a new second-story addition was added to elevate the new spaces into the dense tree canopy of the site. Outdoor spaces engage the neighborhood and take advantage of the beautiful old-growth trees on the property while minimizing the impact of the building footprint on the site. Minimal detailing and challenging modern craftsmanship throughout the home allow the spatial harmonies to sing.
